They say we eventually start looking like our dog…or perhaps it’s just that our dog starts looking like us!
But what if our personality could be reflected in a breed of dog?
What if our behavioural traits, our tendencies, our whole approach could be likened to certain dog breeds? What type would you be?
I do love a bit of DiSC profiling, so for a bit of fun, let’s look at our canine profiles…
D types – dominant, self-confident, direct, determined individuals.
An Alsatian or Husky at heart, D types like to do things their way, know their own mind and are focussed and certain about where they’re heading. Disciplined and on a mission, these individuals like to feel productive and constantly moving forward. Very good at jumping through hoops to reach goals!
i types – influential, persuasive, lively, fun loving individuals.
Jack Russell or Dachshund-like, these energetic extroverts are upbeat, friendly, sociable and positive. Loving new adventures and new environments. Can be seen running around making new friends at every opportunity, networking comes easily to these individuals. ‘A walk you say? Let’s make it a party and invite some friends to go with us!’
S types – supportive, steady and reliable team players.
Naturally aligned to Labradors or Golden Retrievers, S types thrive on harmony, routine and show unbounded patience and loyalty. Reliable friends, skilled at looking after others and building team spirit. Providing reassurance, maybe a shoulder to cry on, they may be quiet but in times of trouble these calm and agreeable individuals have definitely got your back!
C types – detailed, precise, analytical and bright.
C types with their love of orderliness and self-sufficiency are the Beagles or Pugs of the dog world. Yes, they can learn new tricks…but the question is, why is it necessary? Yes, they could go for a walk…but let’s think it through first! C types are happy in their own company, enjoying quiet time alone, rather than being busy out socialising with other dogs running around the local park.
